Fun Drive and Powerful Performance
The Escape is a flexible SUV that allows you to choose the engine that's right for your life. There are four to choose from-two hybrid engines and two gas engines-all focusing on fuel economy.
The standard powertrain is a 1.5L EcoBoost engine with 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. The other gas engine provides a bit more pep. The available 2.0L EcoBoost® engine delivers 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.
Both the hybrid engine options offer the same amount of power. The main difference is that one is a plug-in, while the other one is not. Both the 2.5L hybrid and the 2.5L plug-in hybrid generate 165 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque.
Front-Wheel Drive comes standard with the Escape, although available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with AWD Disconnect detects when AWD is needed and engages it. If it's not required, it allows the front wheels to power the SUV.
