Power and Efficiency

You're curious if a hybrid SUV can keep up with its internal combustion cousins; well, let us explain how it all works.

There are two available hybrid powertrains: a regular hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. The difference is that a hybrid relies on an internal combustion engine with an electric battery for backup, while the plug-in works in reverse, relying on an electric battery with an internal combustion engine for backup.

The 2.5L hybrid engine offers 192 total system horsepower with 155 lb-ft or torque, while the plug-in hybrid offers 210 total system horsepower with the same amount of torque. Since they offer the same amount of torque, they both have a maximum available towing capacity of 1,500 pounds.

Interior Dimensions

You might have also heard that hybrid models have slightly less room than their internal combustion contemporaries because the rear must hold the auxiliary battery. While the battery location is correct, the 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid still has plenty of interior space.

This SUV has seating for five people with 40 inches of front headroom and 42.4 inches of front legroom. Passengers in the rear row will still have plenty of room with 39.3 inches of rear headroom and 38.9 inches of rear legroom.

Planning a long trip? Take advantage of the 34.4 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear row of seats. If you're going on a solo trip, fold down the rear row and expand that number to 60.8 cubic feet of cargo space.

Safety Features

Of course, the most important features are the ones that are designed to help keep you and your family safe. The 2023 Ford Escape Hybrid comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360â„¢ technology. This comprehensive safety suite is jam-packed with advanced features not only to make your drive safe but easier as well. Taking that a step further are additional advanced features.

One of them is available Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering, and Speed Sign Recognition. This feature does everything but drive the car for you by keeping you safely within your lane and keeping you informed of nearby road signs.

All you'll have to do is set a speed and a following distance from the car ahead, and your Escape will keep up with the flow of traffic-even come to a complete stop and then get back up to speed when traffic resumes.
