Edge vs Equinox: Performance Specs
With the Chevy Equinox, all its trim levels come powered by the 1.5L turbo 4-cylinder engine. Creating 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque, this motor offers smooth performance as you drive around town.
With the Edge, though, you'll enjoy a quicker, more agile performance. That's because it offers a few powerful engine options. Standard is its 250-horsepower twin-scroll 2.0L EcoBoost® I-4 turbocharged engine while it also has an available 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 twin-turbocharged engine. This V6 generates 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.
With all that power, you can configure the Edge to tow up to 3,500 pounds. This will let you attach your camper or trailer to your SUV. At most, the Chevy Equinox can tow 1,500 pounds.
The Space Inside the Ford Edge vs Chevy Equinox
While both models have seating for five and room in the back for supplies, the amount of space offered in these two SUVs differs. The Chevy Equinox comes with 103.5 cubic feet of passenger volume, while the 2022 Edge has more room for everyone to stretch out with 113.9 cubic feet of passenger volume.
Plus, there's more room in the back of the Ford Edge for everything from groceries to sporting equipment. Behind the rear seats, you'll find 39.2 cubic feet of cargo volume in the Edge. This space expands to 73.4 cubic feet when you fold down the rear seats.
How much cargo space does the 2022 Equinox have? There's only 29.9 cubic feet behind the second-row seats and a maximum of just 63.9 cubic feet when those seats are folded flat.
What Tech Is Featured in the Equinox vs Edge?
Along with the space you'll get to enjoy in the 2022 Ford Edge, it also comes with a large, 12-inch touchscreen display. This features SYNC® 4A, which is Ford's most advanced infotainment system to date.
The Chevy Equinox has its own infotainment system, too, which shares some similar capabilities to SYNC® 4A, like smartphone integration. However, it has a smaller touchscreen at seven inches and doesn't feature the cloud-based connectivity and addition of SiriusXM® with 360L that you'll get with the SYNC® 4A system.
The 2022 Ford Edge also has another helpful technology system you can't get with the Equinox. The available Enhanced Active Park Assist system makes it easier to park your vehicle when heading to a store, coffee shop, or restaurant in the city. This system can help you find an open space along the street and then automatically steer and shift its way into the spot. All you need to do is simply hold down the Park Assist button!
